Anna and Bill's hemp necklaces are made from natural, as well as colored hemp. Only the highest quality of hemp is used.
They carefully select all beads and charms then design and hand weave each hemp necklace into a unique creation.
All hemp necklaces are one of a kind, and are sold on a first come first served basis. A few of their hemp necklaces, with simple beads and easy to find charms, may appear in their catalog more than once, but, since each necklace is hand woven, even these will be slightly different from others of similar design.
When you first put on a hemp necklace, you might notice that it's a bit scratchy and stiff. As you wear it, however, it will become softer and shape itself to your neck.
The way to fit your hemp necklace is as follows; one end of the necklace has a loop, the other end we braid and you tie a simple knot. Most of our hemp necklaces have a bead on the end and you tie a knot behind the bead. Then the knot or bead slips through the loop. Thicker necklaces don't come with a bead, and you will just tie a knot without a bead in front of it.
Refund Policy
No refunds will be given if the necklace or other item has been modified in any way.
The cost of making the necklaces is only part of the expense involved in putting Anna and Bill's necklaces on-line. Anna and Bill must also pay the web designer to scan the necklaces then convert them to gifs and jpgs. Then the text must be converted into html and put up online. Invoices and records must be maintained. As both Anna and Bill work fulltime, they must hire someone to do this. When a necklace is purchased the webmaster has to take down the necklace and replace it with another. In addition to the aforementioned cost, the server and credit card processor also take their slice of the pie. All this takes time and money, much of which can't be regained when a customer asks for a refund. That is why we caution our shoppers to read the descriptions carefully.
While we make no promise to refund money, we generally do offer a one time refund for people who have a legitimate complaint. (The customer will be expected to pay the shipping. There will also be a restocking fee which includes re-entry on our web site and repackaging if needed - $5.00 minimum.) What is a legitimate complaint? Saying your necklace is too thick when you buy off the thick site, where the length and width as well as a description and picture, is available is not a legitimate complaint. Saying the necklace you ordered is too long, or too short when the minimum and maximum lengths are given with the description of each necklace, is not a legitimate complaint. Faulty workmanship, or if the wrong necklace was sent is a legitimate complaint. Folks seldom ask for a refund or exchange. The majority of our customers are very pleased with their necklaces, and often become steady customers. To date, no one has complained about Anna and Bill's necklaces being poor quality!
QuestionI noticed that on your lengths, you list sizes as "from - to". Does that mean that the particular necklace can be any length between those two measurements? What kind of closing is used?
Answer Yes the length of the necklace can be adjusted between the sizes given. If the necklace is 15" to 17", the 15" is the woven size, and you could wear it at that length. If you want it longer, the rest is braided to a maximum of 17" and you tie the knot wherever you want it along that length.
The necklaces have a loop on one end that you slip the knot or bead through. We put a bead on most of our necklaces. Have another person help you find the length and then tie a knot to hold the bead there. When you're sure it's right, tie the knot very tight and cut off most of the remaining cord. Thicker necklaces don't come with a bead, and you will just tie a knot without a bead in front of it.
Question
AnswerAnna and Bill would love to help others learn how to weave necklaces, but they just don't have the time. Anna and Bill both work full time with Bill also taking college classes after work. We suggest you go to the library, or a local craft store. Bill taught Anna how to weave, but she learned a number of the 'fancy' knots by studying books.
Question
AnswerThis is what you can do, put your necklace in the pocket of a pair of jeans and wash them just like you would any other time, but take the necklace out before you put them in the dryer. Lay it out flat on a dry wash cloth or towel and let it sit till it's dry. And don't wear it in the shower anymore. It might soften it up a little, but it'll just turn it fuzzy if you do it too much. And WEAR IT!! The more you wear hemp the softer it will get. It will also shape itself to your neck, witch is really cool.
Happy hemping
Anna
Question
Hey, I was just wondering if you sold only the Mushroom beads that come on your hemp necklaces.....just let me know if you do or not as soon as possible, thanks alot
Mike
AnswerAnna and Bill buy their mushrooms at various stores in the area. They have their hands full making and selling their necklaces. They don't sell the goods to make necklaces from.
Question
hey i luv your work but i make my own and i was wondering if you could give me some tips on making the spiral more even.
thanx
jake
AnswerBill says you learn by making thousands of necklaces. Good quality hemp, he says, is also a must if you want your necklaces to look good.
Question
Hi,
You guys have beautiful jewelry at this site, keep up the good work.
I do have a question to pose however. A little while back, you guys had a couple of necklaces in the matching pair section. One necklace had one half of the ying-yang symbol and its match had the other half of the symbol. I was wondering if you guys plan on making another one of these types anytime soon. I'd like to buy a pair for my boyfriend and me.
I've searched all over the net and have not found another set of matching pairs like it.
Please bring it back!
Thanks,
Trisha
AnswerAll Anna and Bill's necklaces are one of a kind. When they find some charms, or beads they like they buy as many as they can afford at the time, but when they make up the necklaces they almost always put the 'makings' together in a new way. That's why we say all necklaces are one of a kind and sold on a first come first served basis. If you see something you like, you might want to snap it up. Ying-yangs are popular and Anna and Bill like to make them when they can. Remember, though, each one will be slightly different (unless they are a pair, of course!)
QuestionHey i was planning on buying your Hemp Mushroom 51. Do you think that you could make that smaller. Well just drop me a line as soon as you can so that i can order it and get it on as fast as i can cause i think it is phat
AnswerSorry, necklaces are already strung, and can't be made smaller than the min. measurement without taking apart and re-stringing.
Questionhi i have a question for you.if i wear my hemp necklace to bed and in the shower will the water and like soap, shampoo or conditioner hurt it?should i take it off then put it back on after i take me shower or is it ok to wear it to bed and in the shower or a swimming pool.??
AnswerHemp is very durable and will last a long time, even when worn constantly. Getting your hemp necklace wet will cause it to get old faster, however. Bill says he knows folks who put their necklaces on and wear them until they're rag-tag. It's up to you.
QuestionDo u have a return policy? If you do what is the policy?
AnswerWe provide a picture of each necklace and list the length, (as well as the width on the thick necklaces) and ask that you check them over carefully before ordering. If you have a legitimate reason for not wanting your necklace, and you haven't altered or damaged it, you may return it for a one time replacement of any necklace that is of equal or lesser value - you will be asked to pay for shipping and handling charges. Bill and Anna hire folks to put their jewelry on-line,as well as packaging it up and mailing it out. The cost of putting the necklaces on-line, plus the cost of shipping and handling makes it impossible for them to offer a full refund. Very few of our customers want a refund once they get their necklaces and see how well-made and beautifully designed they are!
Question
Hi,
My name is Susan, and I've just recently become interested in making hemp bracelets and necklaces as a hobby in my spare time. I went to your site and I thought that all of your pieces were BEAUTIFUL. I was wondering, where could I buy the white hemp and the kind of beads you used in your jewelry?
Thank you,
Susan
AnswerAnna and Bill buy most of their hemp and beads at local shops in the Portland Oregon area, but they have also visited shops up and down the west coast searching for unusual and outstanding beads and charms.
QuestionHello,
I also make these necklaces, but you have some that are very unique and I was just wondering where you had learned to make them. Or did you just come up with it on your own? These are so beautiful!!! Keep up the good work!!!!
Thanks,
Samantha
AnswerThanks for your comments. Bill was into making hemp necklaces before he met Anna. After they were married he taught Anna how to make a number of weaves. Anna took it one step further and looked at a lot of craft books and came up with a number of unique designs of her own.
